B.Sc. in Petroleum Geophysics
Education goes beyond textbooks and classrooms. We believe in empowering students to easily integrate the professional world.
This comprehensive four-year Bachelor of Science program provides students with a strong foundation in physics and mathematics, preparing them for specialized careers in the oil and gas industry.
- Year One focuses on core sciences—Calculus, Differential Equations, Physics (Mechanics, Electricity & Magnetism), and Chemistry—alongside an introduction to the industry and essential safety standards.
- Year Two introduces the core disciplines of Petroleum Geology and Exploration Geophysics. Students study seismic reflection, basic interpretation, signal theory, and formation evaluation, starting their practical training in data analysis.
- Year Three dives deeper into petroleum systems, including hydrocarbon generation, reservoirs, traps, and velocity interpretation. Students engage in field work and advanced seismic processing and interpretation.
- Year Four focuses on advanced and specialized techniques, including 3D & 4D seismic applications, gravity and magnetics, and crosswell seismology, culminating in an integrated reservoir characterization project.
