Introduction to the Faculty

The Faculty of of Oil & Gas at the International Petroleum and Mining Academy (IPMA) is Cameroon’s premier gateway to world-class technical education in the extractive industries. Through state-of-the-art laboratories, industry partnerships, and expert instruction, the Faculty of Oil & Gas transforms ambitious students into skilled professionals ready to drive energy security and economic transformation across Central Africa and beyond.

Faculty Departments

Designed to meet the evolving demands of Africa’s energy landscape, our faculty delivers hands-on, industry-aligned training across four specialized departments:

Department of Exploration & Production

Focuses on the upstream sector, equipping students with essential skills in petroleum geology, geophysics, reservoir engineering, and advanced drilling operations.

Department of Operations & Maintenance

Prepares technicians and engineers to manage midstream and downstream facilities, emphasizing asset integrity, refinery operations, and industrial safety systems.

Department of Business

Combines technical literacy with commercial acumen, preparing future managers in energy economics, project management, logistics, and international oil contracts.

Department of Short Term Courses

Offers targeted 2-year professional diploma programs tailored for rapid workforce entry, upskilling, and practical field mastery.
