IPMA Showcases Strategic Vision for Petro-Mining Human Capital Development at the New African Dimension Oil and Gas Conference in Zanzibar

The International Petroleum and Mining Academy (IPMA) reaffirmed its position as a leading regional force in energy education and technical capacity development during the New African Dimension Oil and Gas Conference held in Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Serving as a premier petro-mining human capital development institution for Cameroon and the broader Central Africa sub-region, IPMA delivered a powerful presentation highlighting its academic curriculum, institutional roadmap, and pan-African vision for local content creation across the continent’s extractive industries.

Engaging Key African Energy Leaders and Policy Makers

Throughout the summit in Zanzibar, IPMA hosted an interactive exhibition booth that served as a major focal point for ministers, institutional executives, and international delegates.

The IPMA delegation lead by Mr. Gembom Denis (President Director General of IPMA), engaged in high-level discussions with esteemed dignitaries and key industry figures who visited the institution’s exhibition booth, including:

  • The CEO and Chairman of the Young African Petroleum Professionals Association (YAPA)
  • The Secretary General of YAPA
  • The Senior Adviser to the Minister of Hydrocarbons of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)
  • The Official Representative of the Minister of Hydrocarbons of Tanzania
  • The Official Representative of the Minister of Hydrocarbons of Zanzibar

These strategic interactions provided an invaluable platform to articulate IPMA’s core mission: bridging the critical skills gap in Africa’s petroleum, gas, and mining sectors through specialized technical training and regional collaboration.

Driving Pan-African Synergy and Local Content Development

During executive briefings and technical presentations at the conference, IPMA leadership emphasized the imperative for Africa to build homegrown expertise capable of managing, operating, and innovating within the continent’s energy infrastructure.

By showcasing its advanced training modules, modern pedagogical standards, and collaborative frameworks, IPMA demonstrated how institutional cooperation across Central, East, and Southern Africa can accelerate human capital development.

The constructive dialogues with representatives from Tanzania, Zanzibar, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and YAPA underscored a shared commitment to empowering young African professionals with world-class engineering, refining, and asset management capabilities.

A Vision for the Central Africa Regional Petro-Mining Engineering University

IPMA’s participation at the New African Dimension Oil and Gas Conference in Zanzibar represents a broader commitment to establishing a recognized Central Africa Regional Petro-Mining Engineering University hub.

As African energy markets evolve toward sustainable growth, local value addition, and technology transfer, IPMA remains dedicated to delivering industry-aligned education, building cross-border alliances, and preparing the next generation of African energy pioneers.
